City partners with local businesses in Shop It Forward campaign

The City of Redlands is partnering with local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce in Shop It Forward, a local campaign encouraging Redlands residents to do their Christmas shopping now, buying gifts and services online from local businesses, paying now for pickup or delivery in December.

While many local businesses are struggling with stay-at-home orders that have closed their doors and kept customers away, Shop It Forward seeks to provide income vital to keeping many businesses in operation and money circulating in the local economy until businesses can reopen.

“Local businesses are the backbone of Redlands,” said City Councilwoman Toni Momberger. “They keep our economy thriving, and they have supported many in the community when times were good. It’s our time to help them.”

Redlands web designer Skyrocket Softworks donated design of the website and Citrograph Printing Co. designed and donated the Shop It Forward logo.

Dozens of local businesses are participating with more joining soon. Consumers can shop for traditional Christmas gifts and personal items as well as gift cards to local restaurants, gift certificates for services and experiences.

For more information, or to begin your Christmas shopping, visit the Shop It Forward website at Local businesses that wish to participate can also find a link and contact information to join the effort.

Participants can also make donations to local organizations, including the Redlands Bowl, Family Service Association, Friends of the Library and others using the link on the Shop It Forward website. Many organizations were not able to hold their major fundraising events this year.
