Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby to Return to Ford Park!

Fishing Derby: 7:00 a.m. to 10:45a.m. (fishing begins at 7:45 a.m.)

Gates Open: 7:00 a.m. ( check in begins at 7:00 a.m.)

When: January  13 , 2024

Get out your gear and reel in that “BIG CATCH”, the much-anticipated Kids’ Fishing Derby will return to Ford Park with the support of the City of Redlands, Redlands Optimist, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife!

Both ponds will be stocked with more than 500 pounds of trout for the derby. Kids 15 years old and younger can fish for free and attempt to win prizes for different age groups.                                   

Attendees will have access to learning stations provided by California State Fish and Game. These stations will offer useful information on topics that include the biology of fish, fish species, as well as safety measures when using fishing poles.

Free bait and fishing poles will be available for use and youth participants can look forward to an exciting day of raffle prizes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain will not cancel the event.

The Fishing Derby will conclude at 10:45 a.m., after which the lake will reopen to persons age 16 and older.

Registration is recommended as space is limited
