Community Services Bureau

The Community Services Bureau reaches out to the residential and business communities to establish and maintain cooperative relationships that keep the City of Redlands a safe and enjoyable community.

Traffic Safety Unit

Under the Community Services Bureau, the Traffic Safety Unit focuses on Traffic Education, Moving Violations, and Parking Citations.

Victim Rights/Parallel Justice

The Redlands Police Department is committed to protecting and advocating for victims of crime. The RPD has officially embraced Parallel Justice as one of the Department’s five core initiatives and added the language “helping victims rebuild their lives” to the Department’s list of organizational guidelines to send a clear message, both internally and to the public, that this approach comes from the top and should be taken seriously.

Crime Prevention

The Redlands Police Department’s goal is to reduce crime by the education of the community. The Crime Prevention and Community Education Unit will oversee and coordinate crime prevention activities and make presentations to citizen, community, and school groups regarding crime and safety issues. They will be available for information regarding traffic and parking questions and education including Child Seat inspections.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program which enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime in their communities. Neighborhood Watch involves neighbors getting to know each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance; residents trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods – essentially, neighbors looking out for each other. Anyone Can Participate. City Residents, young or old, single or married, renter or homeowner.

While You Are Away

Your home can be a target of opportunity for burglars when you are away on vacation. The Redlands Police Department wants to help protect residents’ property from opportunistic thieves with a new vacation program designed to catch criminals in the act.

Responsible Redlands

The Redlands Police Department Responsible Redlands initiative—a collaborative effort facilitated by the Redlands Police Department—focuses on curbing problems related to binge and underage drinking through ongoing strategic operations to enforce existing alcohol laws.

Alcoholic Beverage Control

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Liaison officer oversees the enforcement of State laws and rules that retail licensees must follow.

Business Liaison/Business Unit

The Business Liaison Unit directly addresses the public safety needs of the City’s downtown business district, bordered by Church Street on the east, Texas Street on the west, Colton Avenue on the north and Olive Avenue on the south.

Citizens Privacy Council

In June 2007 the Redlands Police Department formed the Citizens’ Privacy Council to provide input and advice on department policy in its use of surveillance cameras.

The council will help the Redlands Police Department in their efforts to balance the use of surveillance cameras in public areas to enhance community safety with the citizens’ right to privacy.
