Redlands man arrested after robbery, shooting Monday night

Police on Friday arrested a 32-year-old Redlands man for robbery, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting earlier in the week in the 400 block of Doyle Avenue.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Doyle Avenue and Heron Court shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, May 9. Officers located evidence of the shooting but no suspects or victim were located. Authorities did locate bullet holes in a vehicle and a residence.

Through investigation, detectives learned that Alfredo Barbo Ramirez and two other subjects were involved in an altercation in the 400 block of Doyle Avenue Monday. During the altercation, Ramirez struck one of the other subjects and stole his car keys. The victims left but later returned to pick up a car. Another altercation ensued between the victims and Ramirez.

Following the second altercation, Ramirez fired a shotgun at the subjects as they drove away. One of the subjects fired back at Ramirez with a handgun. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, May 13, the Redlands Police Department SWAT Team served a search warrant at Ramirez’s residence in the 300 block of Hartzell Avenue. Ramirez was taken into custody without incident. During a search of his home, investigators recovered a 9mm handgun, ammunition and narcotics.

In addition to the other charges, Ramirez, who is on federal probation, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Ramirez is a documented gang member and a gang enhancement will also be filed. The investigation is continuing.

Ramirez was booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
