This is the “Headquarters” of the Redlands Fire Department and is located close to downtown in the Civic Center, at 35 Cajon Street, in Suite 12. The Administration Office hours of operation are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. 
Please feel free to contact us regarding Fire Incident Reports, tours of the Fire Stations, fire apparatus demonstrations, Safety Talks, Fire Explorer program, Children’s Fire Safety Trailer, and the annual Spark of Love Toy Drive held each December.
The Administrative Services branch consists of the Fire Chief, the Fire Marshal, one Management Analyst, and two Administrative Assistants who provide technical and clerical support to the department, as well as efficient and courteous service to our citizens. The Administrative Services branch is responsible for the overall management and administration of a variety of programs to ensure that program goals and objectives are successfully accomplished. This branch includes:

Deputy Fire Chief Rich Sessler

A native of nearby Corona, California, Rich Sessler left a very successful seven year career with the U.S Forestry Service to come to the Redlands Fire Department in 2005. In 2012, as a Captain, Rich was awarded the distinction of Firefighter of the Year. In 2014, The City of Redlands honored Rich with the Safety Manager of the Year Award. Rich holds a Masters of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands.

Battalion Chief Jim Topoleski

As one of our veterans, Jim Topoleski has proudly served with the Redlands Fire Department for 28 years of his 32 year career in the fire service. Born and raised in nearby San Bernardino, Jim, who calls Redlands his home, is very involved in community organizations such as the Redlands East Valley High School PTSA, Redlands Baseball for Youth, and the Redlands Benchwarmers. 

Bob Tyson

Bob Tyson, Quality Improvement Nurse

Born and raised in Redlands, Bob attended McKinley Elementary, Cope Junior High, and graduated from Redlands High School in 1971. After graduating from Fort Lewis College with a BA in Business Administration, Bob returned to Redlands to manage the first ever disco in our town! In 1982, Bob started working at Redlands Community Hospital as an Emergency Medical Technician in the ER. After graduating from Nursing School from College of the Desert, Bob continued working in the ER as a RN where he continues to work today. Bob has been married to his wife Judy for 26 years. They love to travel and spend time at their cabin in Running Springs. Bob has been with the Redlands Fire Department since January 2014.

Diane Lynn Rivera-Sedgwick

Diane Lynn Rivera-Sedgwick, Senior Administrative Technician

Diane, a native of Queens, New York, first moved to Los Angeles, California in 1959 when her father, a die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan, uprooted the entire family to follow the Dodgers in their move to Los Angeles. Diane grew up and attended school in the San Fernando Valley, until in 1988, when she decided to move to Redlands with her son, Rustin. Diane was first hired by the City of Redlands in February 1991. She came to work for the Fire Department in August of 1997 when the Fire Chief at the time, Mel Enslow, asked her to become a part of his team. To date she has proudly worked for the City of Redlands for 25 years, including the 19 years with the Fire Department. Diane has a son, Rustin and two grandchildren: Lea, age 11, and Tanner, age 9. She also loves her four legged family members, her pups Emma, Louie, Ranger & Bella. Diane loves to cook, create new recipes, and share what she has created with her friends and family. Diane is an avid gardener, as well. In 2005, she built by hand, a 20’ x 7’ x 4’ above ground garden in her backyard where she grows a variety of vegetables annually. She also grows a variety of fruit trees which she planted herself in her front yard. Diane earned an Associate’s Degree from Crafton Hills Jr. College in 2007. She then attended the University of Redlands in 2009 and walked in May 2012. Diane has been married since 2002 to Philip Sedgwick, and has been a devoted fan of NCIS for about 13 years, since it first started.

Maria Koolhoven

Maria Koolhoven, Administrative Technician

Beginning her career with the Redlands Fire Department five years ago, Maria has shown her commitment to the department by becoming very involved in several important off duty department activities and various charitable organizations. She is the Membership Coordinator of the Administrative Fire Services Section of Cal Chiefs, and also is the Administrative Assistant for Fire Explorer Post 261. In addition, Maria has volunteered for numerous community organizations such as the Inland Empire Camp Beyond the Scars, MDA & Fire and Burn Foundation, Fill the Boot, Pink T-Shirt Fundraisers, Spark of Love Toy Drive, just to name a few. Before joining the Redlands Fire Department, she was a Management Secretary at the Wall Street Journal.
