Street closures planned for ‘Flick or Treat’ Halloween events

Article

In preparation for this year’s family-friendly “Flick or Treat” Halloween drive-thru and drive-in movie events, the City of Redlands will be closing streets in the area of the events, beginning Friday morning, Oct. 30. The free events will observe all public health recommendations to keep participants safe.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Friday, San Bernardino Avenue will be closed between Dearborn and Granite streets. The closure will stay in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

Beginning Saturday morning at 11 a.m., Dearborn will be closed between Sessums Drive and San Bernardino Avenue. Sessums Drive will remain open with curbside restrictions.

The Redlands Sports Park will also be closed all day Saturday prior to the event.

The all-ages family-friendly drive-thru experience will keep the fun traditions and excitement of Halloween alive in a safe and engaging way. Beginning at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, the parking lot at the Redlands Sports Complex on Dearborn Street north of San Bernardino Avenue will be transformed into a drive-thru Halloween experience. Families will remain in their vehicles as they experience the sights and sounds of Halloween with vehicles and parking spaces decorated for the holiday.

Participants will enter the event from the eastbound lane of Sessums Drive onto Dearborn Street. Cones will be in place to direct drivers.

Following the drive-thru event, at 6 p.m. a block of San Bernardino Avenue, between Dearborn and Granite Street, will be transformed into a pop-up drive-in theater for a free screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (PG).

Entrance to the pop-up drive-in will be at the intersection of Wabash and San Bernardino avenues.

All attendees must be pre-registered to attend either event and must be in a vehicle. Upon arrival, attendees will be checked in using their vehicle license plate number, which must be provided during pre-registration.  Each attendee’s license plate number is their ticket to enter.

Registration is closed for the drive-in movie, however spots are still available for the drive-thru experience. For more information or to pre-register for the drive-thru experience, please visit https://www.cityofredlands.org/flickortreat.

In compliance with State and County public health requirements, the City of Redlands is not sponsoring the traditional State Street Halloween event or facilitating trick-or-treating in local neighborhoods this year.
