Community Center receives RPOA donation for gymnasium

Article

June 8, 2017 – The Quality of Life Department Recreation Division received a generous donation from the Redlands Police Officers’ Association for the Redlands Community Center’s gymnasium.

The donation of $2,602.33 will help provide for much needed repairs to the basketball equipment inside the Community Center’s gymnasium to help encourage the community to become physically fit through participation in sports, such as the upcoming summer youth basketball season. In addition, the much needed funds will help provide for additional basketball programs inside the Community Center, such as Midnight Hoops, a program that is co-sponsored by the Redlands Police Department.

Midnight Hoops, in partnership with the Redlands Police Department, the City of Redlands, and the Second Baptist Church in Redlands, begins Friday, June 12, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and will be held each Friday through July 28. This is a free program for all ages, and provides a safe environment for youths and young adults to play a game of basketball throughout the summer.
