City seeks public input to Hazard Mitigation Plan update

Article

The City of Redlands, along with several community partners and the California Office of Emergency Services, is currently in the process of updating the City’s Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Hazard mitigation planning helps to reduce loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters. As part of the update process, the City begins by identifying natural disaster risks and vulnerabilities common to our area. Once these risks are identified, planners develop long-term strategies to protect people and property from similar events. Mitigation plans are key to breaking the cycle of disaster damage and reconstruction.

The City is currently seeking public review and input into the updated plan. The City invites the public to view the draft plan at https://www.cityofredlands.org/local-hazard-mitigation-plan and submit comments through the online form available.

Comments should be submitted no later than May 23. For more information, contact the City of Redlands Emergency Operations Specialist Esther Martinez at emartinez@cityofredlands.org or by calling (909) 307-7313.
