Beginning watercolor classes return in to Senior Center

Aug. 30, 2017 – The Redlands Community Senior Center’s popular watercolor class series will begin again in September with the theme, “Success With Succulents!” Learn to paint “Tiger Jaws,” Faucaria tigrina, a favorite succulent in this new month of beginning watercolor classes.

The class series is taught by local Redlands artist Cindy Sullivan who has exhibited native species cacti paintings at the Oakland Museum of Natural History.

The class will cover mixing with cobalt turquoise to achieve the fabulous teal colors often found in a number of the most beautiful species among the large family of succulent plants found all over the world.

The step-by-step series of four classes is offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 5 through 26, or 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 7 through 28. Classes are held at the Redlands Community Senior Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave.

Basic techniques, proper use of supplies and basic color mixing will be covered. Each month, a simple, step-by-step project is demonstrated and students are guided through it with individual attention during class. Bring your watercolor supplies and good paper to the first class. A suggested supply list is provided at registration.

The program is $27 for four classes and is open to adults.
