The Solid Waste Division can assist you with your special waste disposal needs. Any item that does not fit into your regular solid waste container (automated, commercial bin or can), and is not considered a banned item (i.e., hazardous waste), can be collected from your curbside for disposal for a fee.
The fee for this special service is as follows: $33.42 for the first item, and $16.71 for each additional item.
Solid waste crews cannot go inside of a building or residence to collect special haul items. Bulky item special hauls must be scheduled in advance, with the material ready for collection on the agreed day.
Many times your waste is someone else's treasure. Before you consider disposing of it, why not try to recycle it first? The Solid Waste Division's Customer Service Representatives are happy to assist you with referral sources for hundreds of every-day household items that are recyclable. The City of Redlands is proud to be one of only a few cities in California who offer a program to help residents responsibly dispose of needles, syringes, lancets and other sharp objects used in the personal administration of prescription medications at home.
The City of Redlands Home Generated Sharps Disposal Program will accept for proper disposal at no charge, sharps containers from Redlands residents at the Redlands Fire Station #1 at 525 E. Citrus Avenue.
HOW IT WORKS
Free sharps containers are available to City of Redlands residents ONLY (Proof of residency is required).
When the container is approximately ¾ full, simply take it to Redlands Fire Station #1, You will be given an empty container in return.

HOURS: from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
SHARPS/NEEDLE SAFETY TIPS
- Put sharps into the proper disposal container immediately after use.
- Do not try to bend or break the needle or syringe.
- Do not put the cap back on the needle.
- Do not dispose of exposed sharps in your regular trash.
KEEP ALL SHARPS AND DISPOSAL CONTAINERS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
What is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household hazardous waste is any material or mixture of waste which is corrosive, combustible, poisonous, or reactive. It is harmful to humans, animals, and the environment.
Remember to always store hazardous waste in their original containers. Buy only what you need, and use it up!
Hazardous Waste Collection
LOCATION: 500 Kansas Street, Redlands
HOURS: Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (excluding holidays and closed when raining)
Loads are limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds maximum per visit in containers no larger than 5 gal.
Please be careful transporting chemicals to the disposal site.
