Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 11. Residents should set their clocks ahead by one hour. This is also a good time to make sure you have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in the home.

The Redlands Police Department is using grant-funded sobriety checkpoints and targeted traffic patrols to improve traffic safety in the City.

The Redlands Police Department Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, March 9, through 3 a.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes of Alabama Street, between Park Avenue and Barton Road. 

Students at two local high schools got a taste of the effects of alcohol – without ever tasting alcohol – thanks to a presentation by the Redlands Police Department, in cooperation with the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health.

A local Redlands community program, created to assist the elderly, is getting a helping hand from students in the Social Work program at Cal State San Bernardino.  The Never Alone Project was established in 2001  to address the problems faced by many elderly within the community and foster a better connection with others.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against three defendants arrested in connection with a January 2011 shooting that killed two teens and wounded two others and a charge of accessory after the fact to first degree murder against a fourth defendant. All four were arrested last week by Redlands Police.

Redlands and San Bernardino Police are crediting a piece of technology and a cooperative partnership among local law enforcement for the recent arrest of a suspect wanted for armed robbery in San Bernardino.

RedlandsPolice Cpl. Aneta Stewart was on patrol at about 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. She was heading north on Eureka Street in a patrol car fitted with an Automated License Plate Reader when she received a hit on the license plate of pasing southbound vehicle.

Are you interested in learning how to play the ukulele? Then come to the Redlands Community Senior Center and learn to play in no time.  A minimum of eight people are needed in order to hold the class, so tell your friends and learn how to play together.

Classes take place Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  There is no cost to participate.  Remember we can not start the classes until there are eight people signed up, the sooner you sign up the sooner you can learn.

The Redlands Community Senior Center will host a St. Patrick’s Day Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15.  There will be craft booths, and a free corn beef and cabbage lunch and dessert will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Join the Redlands Community Senior Center to see a live taping in Los Angeles of “The Price is Right,” with host Drew Carey Wednesday, March 21, Transportation, breakfast and a stop at the Farmers Market in Fairfax are all included, and there’s always a chance you could be the next contestant on the show!

Buses leave the Redlands Community Senior Center at 7:15 a.m. and will return at approximately 4 p.m.  The cost of the trip is $22 for one ticket and $42 for two.  Have a Patron Card? Even better, one ticket is $20 and two tickets are $38.

The Redlands Community Senior Center along with Barbara Buchan presents Afternoon Delight Dance Social, beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16. This is a free event, including music and refreshments, for all seniors in the community. 

Dance socials are held every third Friday of the month. Bring a friend and we hope to see you there.
