Fire destroys vehicle, damages garage
A vehicle was destroyed and a garage damaged in a fire Sunday afternoon. One firefighter was injured while fighting the blaze.
The Redlands Fire Department responded to a call of a residential structure fire at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, June 10. The first arriving unit found a vehicle well involved with fire in the attached garage of a residential duplex in the 1500 block of Finch Avenue. Residents and neighbors were attempting to extinguish the fire using garden hoses. The fire was extinguished by firefighters in 15 minutes.
The vehicle was a total loss and the garage suffered moderate damage. The damage estimate for the fire is $20,000. Redlands Fire Department sent three fire engines, one ladder truck, a paramedic squad and a battalion chief. One engine responded from Mentone to assist.
One firefighter received a laceration to his hand while fighting the fire. He received stitches and was released later in the day. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Redlands Fire Department investigators.
