Report Graffiti, Potholes, Illegal dumping and more!

Two people were arrested for driving under the influence during a weekend sobriety checkpoint and more than 30 people were cited by targeted patrols for a variety of traffic violations since Friday.

Redlands Police conducted a grant-funded sobriety/drivers license checkpoint beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, through 4 a.m. Saturday, on eastbound Redlands Boulevard between Sixth and Ninth streets.

One-hundred eighty-three drivers passed through the checkpoint and 157 were screened. In addition to the two arrests for driving under the influence, one person was cited for driving on a suspended license and two for driving without licenses. Another driver was ticketed for running a red light.

On Monday, four officers conducting grant-funded traffic patrols issued citations to two drivers who were driving with suspended licenses and another who was driving without a license. Officers also issued 16 tickets to drivers who were talking on their cell phones, three who were not wearing seatbelts, three for speeding, two for running a red light and one for failing to stop at a stop sign.

The nationalDriver Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown is led by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and NHTSA, with the California Avoid DUI Task Force Campaign combining high-visibility enforcement and heightened public awareness through publicity. Funding for sobriety checkpoints and targeted patrols is provided through an OTS grant.
