RPD warns of suspicious subject in neighborhood

Sept. 11, 2018 – Redlands Police are advising the public to be alert after a pair of suspicious subject reports in a southeast Redlands neighborhood Monday night and Tuesday morning.

At about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, a resident in the 1400 block of Pleasant View Drive reported seeing someone standing at the entrance of her open garage door as she was about to close the garage. Officers arrived as the woman was still on the phone with police dispatchers but were unable to locate the subject.

At about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a resident a few houses away, in the 1300 block of Fairview Lane, reported hearing a faint knock at her front door. As she was walking toward the door, a person wearing dark clothing and a ski mask opened the door and walked into her house. The subject then turned around and left without saying or taking anything.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious persons or activity to police immediately by calling 911. Non-emergency reports can be called to Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681, ext. 1.

Residents are advised to keep all doors and windows locked, even when you are home. Keep entrance areas to your home and property well lit. If you own a video security system or other alarm system, be sure that it is activated and in working order. Keep landscaping around your home well-trimmed.
