The City of Redlands Development Services Department and the Inland Empire chapter of SCORE will host a workshop detailing how to get started with social media marketing from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the City Council Chambers, 35 Cajon St.

Social media represents the new word-of-mouth. If you’ve been thinking about marketing your business with social media but are overwhelmed and not sure how to get started, this workshop will provide you with simple tips for getting started. Done right, social media can drive repeat business from your current customers or lead to new customers. Take a look at some of the most popular social media networks – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram and Google+ – and learn why each one might be right for your organization.

Featured presenter Kim “Kat” Shepherd is a traveler, entrepreneur, author and business skills trainer who has worked as a business and computer professional for more than 30 years. Shepherd’s business, The Ultimate Professional, provides training in social media marketing, business skills and computer software.

The cost of the workshop is $15 with pre-registration or $25 at the door. Register online at http://inlandempire.score.org/localworkshops. For more information please call (909) 335-4755 ext. 9.
