Firefighters extinguish blaze outside vacant county courthouse

Redlands firefighters responded to a fire at the vacant San Bernardino County Courthouse building at 216 Brookside Ave. Tuesday night.

The Redlands Fire Department received a call of a vegetation fire at Brookside Avenue and Grant Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19. Responding personnel arrived to find vegetation burning in front of the vacant former courthouse and beginning to burn the building. The fire was upgraded to a commercial structure fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes, minimizing the damage to the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Redlands Fire and Police departments.
