City to celebrate downtown pedestrian enhancements

City to celebrate downtown pedestrian enhancements
Posted on 11/15/2016

The community is invited to a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, to celebrate the most recent enhancements to the City’s Historic Downtown.

At the direction of City Manager N. Enrique Martinez, City staff continue to add enhancements creating a connected pedestrian environment throughout the Historic Downtown.

With the installation of shade sails, lighting, tables, music, a coffee cart and enhancement to a planter with a new counter surface and seating, in the breezeways at the Civic Center, the City has created a space where visitors can congregate and enjoy a cup of coffee or fare from one of many nearby local restaurants. The enhancements provide a new connection between businesses on all sides of the Civic Center and a natural progression along Fifth Street to State Street, Orange Street and Redlands Boulevard.

The recent enhancements continue the investment the City Council and City staff have made to create an inviting downtown and stimulate a more vibrant environment for visitors as well as new and existing businesses.

Please join the City Council, City staff and the local business community on Thursday in the Civic Center breezeway at Fifth Street and Citrus Avenue for a ribbon cutting and hors d’oeuvres at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
